How To Lose A Lot Of Weight And Keep It Off

Want to know how to lose a lot of weight? I don’t know about you but I’ve tried just about every diet in the book. I’ve done low-carb, low-fat, a diet where I ate every three hours, HCG (which equates to no food and near starvation); I’ve tried miracle cures, diet pills, and countless other things to lose weight.

Guess what? All of these had one thing in common. They didn’t work for me. That doesn’t mean that they don’t work just that there was something about these diets that didn’t work for me and many other people who have tried them. I was desperate to lose weight. I wanted to lose a lot of weight. I wanted to know how to lose a lot of weight and what it was going to take to keep that weight off.

You know what I discovered? All the sugar-free coating in the world wasn’t going to make the process painless but there were things I could do to make it hurt a little less and be a little more effective. The problem with losing a large amount of weight is that it’s easy to get frustrated at the first snag.

Losing weight is hard for many people and, face it, most diets aren’t the least bit fun. When you need to lose a great deal of weight there’s only one thing you can do that is going to make you a weight loss success story.

What is that?

You’ve got to find a way to make your weight loss efforts fun! You read that right. There’s no rule written or otherwise that says you can’t have fun while losing weight. In fact, having fun is the one sure-fire way to guarantee your success. Dreading the process almost certainly ensures your failure.

Here’s what I did to make it fun for me. Maybe these things will work to help you figure out how to lose a lot of weight on your own without giving up before you have the chance to succeed

Play happy music often. That’s right. Load up your friendly iPod playlist with songs that make you wanna sing and dance like The Pirates of Penzance (as in “The Pirate Song” by Ray Stevens). When you’re happy you aren’t depressed. This means you are less likely to turn to comfort foods or over-indulge. Avoid music that makes you sad or evokes emotion even if you like the music. You want the music you’re listening to while dieting to be light, lively, and energetic so you will be all of these things too.
Get on your feet. I know it’s hard at the end of a long day of work to stay on your feet but this is the time when your decision to dance or doze can be the difference in burning those extra calories for real weight loss results or breaking even for yet another day. Go bike riding with the family, dig out the old roller blades and challenge someone to a skate off, or play Frisbee with Fido. The key is to get up, get moving, and stay active.

Make smart substitutions in your diet. Instead of depriving yourself of the things you love completely (and then binging two days or two weeks down the road – believe me I’ve been there and done that), it’s much better to fill up on healthier foods but to allow yourself a small taste of the things you enjoy most.

There are just a few teeny tiny little things that can make all the difference in the world when it comes to finding out how to lose a lot of weight without giving up halfway to your goal. It’s the little steps that are often the most important and can help you achieve the success that has proven so hard to find in the past. I know it’s done wonders for me.
